NEW Junior Badges and Journeys
Flowers
Flowers are beautiful, but why are they here? Discover the science and purpose of flowers, how flowers keep us from getting sick and have some crafty fun making your own flower out of reusable materials. In order to provide the best experience, the most opportune time to schedule this program is between March and November; flowers like warmer weather.
Energize Journey Award
Energy is what makes our world go ‘round! Learn the basics of energy and ways to conserve it. Discover how animals use energy and what we can learn from them. An energy efficiency craft completes this Get Moving Journey.
We will offer these Badges below until September 30, 2012. We recommend checking with the Girl Scout Badge & Sash store to purchase your try-it badges prior to scheduling your program.
ROCKS ROCK
Take a look around - rocks are everywhere! Analyze different kinds of rocks and discover what rocks can teach us about Georgia’s and about Earth’s past. Explore different types of soil, examine landforms from satellite pictures and learn how erosion is constantly shaping our planet.
EARTH CONNECTIONS
Explore the many connections in nature! Participate in a plot study and learn about relationships that occur in ecosystems. Begin a journey into tree identification. Scouts will also discuss the effects of a variety of human-induced problems on ecosystems and the environment and brainstorm ways to solve environmental problems.
WILDLIFE
Wildlife is everywhere! Learn to identify poisonous plants and venomous animals, discover local endangered species and explore how adaptations help animals to survive. Use science tools to investigate the places wildlife call home and learn what animals are Georgia state symbols.
YOUR OUTDOOR SURROUNDINGS
Discover what’s outdoors and all around! Go for a hike, learn about art through science and find out about some careers that let you explore nature and get paid for it.
All CNC programs strictly adhere to the badge guidelines as outlined in the official GSUSA badge requirements.
